Accounting

Pivotal for running the business efficiently, reporting finances and driving corporate responsibility. This major qualifies you for membership of Certified Practicing Accountants (CPA) Australia and Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CAANZ).

Course Requirements

You will complete the Bachelor of Business in six trimesters full-time or equivalent part-time. This is generally done over three years, with two trimesters per year. The third trimester of each year is optional and lets you reduce the length of the course to two years. 

A full-time study load consists for four units per trimester. Each unit is worth six credit points. Each unit has two hours per week of lectures and one hour per week of tutorial during trimester for twelve weeks. Each unit should require ten hours per week of study, including time spent in classes. If a unit has a final exam, it will be in the fourteenth week of the trimester.

To qualify for the Bachelor of Business, students must achieve satisfactory grades in twenty-four units (one hundred and forty-four credit points), consisting of:

Advanced Standing

Advanced standing means giving you credit for parts of the course you have already learned before you enrol. This learning might have been in education or on-the-job.

When you apply to study with MHE, you may also apply for advanced standing and provide evidence of which parts of the course you already understand. MHE will look at your educational or employment background to decide if you are eligible.

Eligibility for advanced standing in the Bachelor of Business is normally limited to a maximum of twelve units in the first four trimesters. Please see the Advanced Standing Policy and Advanced Standing Procedures for further information.
